We Are Taking Bookings for the Workplace Flu Vaccine 2020 Season
The World Health Organisation has recommended the following strains for the 2020 southern hemisphere flu season. There are three strain changes from the 2019 southern hemisphere vaccine:
- A/Brisbane/02/2018 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus; (strain change)
- A/South Australia/34/2019 (H3N2)-like virus; (strain change)
- B/Washington/02/2019-like (B/Victoria lineage) virus; (strain change) and
- B/Phuket/3073/2013-like (B/Yamagata lineage) virus.
The Annual Influenza Immunisation Programme will have a fixed start date of 1 April. In previous years the programme started as soon as the influenza vaccine became available, generally by early March. The change to a fixed start date of 1 April is intended to ensure that the vaccine remains as effective as possible during the peak incidence of influenza, which in recent years has occurred in late winter. For further information, see the Ministry of Health Policy Statement.
New Zealand-wide Flu Vaccine Vouchers
Working Health flu vaccination vouchers can be redeemed at over 300 Unichem and Life Care Pharmacies. Flu vaccination is ideal for smaller workplaces, as there is no minimum number of flu vaccination vouchers required to make a purchase. Flu vaccination vouchers can be offered to those staff members who are absent or away from the workplace on the day that our nurse provides an onsite visit.
What Differentiates the Working Health Flu Vaccination Service?
It would be easy to think that all workplace flu vaccination programs are the same. However, while the flu vaccines themselves are very similar, choosing a quality provider can make a large difference to your experience, time spent coordinating, and overall costs. The Working Health influenza vaccination program includes the following benefits.
Why Workplace Flu Vaccinations Are Important
Workplace flu vaccinations are a powerful and proven method to reduce absenteeism and increase productivity over the winter months.
Your employees can receive flu vaccines at your workplace, which will help them avoid suffering the effects of influenza. On average, people who get flu jabs at work are 60% less likely to get sick over the winter months, according to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention).
The video link covers the questions that most people ask about the flu vaccination. You may like to share this video with your staff members to help them understand how it works and the importance of being vaccinated each year.
